Last Christmas, my eldest son (the married one with a beard) gave me a brilliant present that made me hoot with laughter. I had told him that I really loved the Fairies in a Jar that are created by Maygreen Fairies; I was thinking of how cute his little sister, Curly Girly, would look transformed into a vintage style fairy and suspended in a jar.
Imagine my surprise when I opened his gift to me last Christmas to find that there was an image of him in a superhero type pose, in a jar! I absolutely love it and it is typical of his sense of humour; please note that his body is not actually distorted with teeny, spindly legs!
Amanda is the digital media artist behind Maygreen Fairies and you can see loads of examples of her digitally altered vintage images on her website. The Fairies in a Jar would make a really lovely Christmas pressie for grandparents or just a cute addition to your mantelpiece. You can contact Amanda with a photo of the little lovely you want to fairytise and she will work the digital magic.
She regularly has a stall at the Kitsch and Stitch Vintage and Makers Fair; you can find lots of super talented people who make beautifully crafted gifts and homeware at the Kitsch and Stitch together with gorgeous vintage loveliness. If you live anywhere in the vicinity, then you really don't want to miss the next Christmas Kitsch and Stitch Fair. Excited... eeep!
