My New Vintage Crush

Sarah Moore is my new Vintage Crush; you may have heard of Sarah from the programme The Great Interior Design Challenge, that was on BBC 2 earlier in the year.   I completely missed this show as I am out rehearsing on Monday nights, but the blogosphere has been full of chatter about Sarah's new book and her lovely vintage style.  You know that I have a penchant for Granny Chic, right?   I am an addict of the Granny Chic book that I have waxed lyrical about before and which as far as I'm concerned is the bible that should adorn the shelves of every vintage loving gal in the land.   However, there is a new girl on the block who can help administer your daily fix of vintage lushness.

Sarah has a wonderful new book out called Vintage Home, which is full of gorgeous photos and ideas for adding some vintage style to your home.  This book is a feast for a vintage lover's eyes and a book to curl up on the sofa with; all you need is your crocheted granny blanket on your lap and a Hendricks Gin and Fever Tree Tonic in your glass.

Oh, and there's Moore more!  Sarah has a website that sells handmade goodies made from vintage fabrics, together with old floral Sanderson fabric pieces and vintage style accessories.  Her style is quite chintzy and not for everyone, but it is most definitely for me.   The pic above shows a wooden staircase that's been decorated with sheets of vintage wallpaper; I sooooo want to do this, but I am not sure that my current husband would share my enthusiasm.  This image comes from Sarah's book and you can buy vintage wallpaper pieces from her shop to achieve this look for yourself.

I have been keeping an eye out for some vintage style fabrics when out hunting in charity shops and found a pair of curtains in a vintage Sanderson print called Chatsworth.   A lovely old print and once chopped up, it's given me a couple of metres of fabric.

About a year ago, I picked up a couple of large sample books for a nifty £1 each from my local charity shop; each book is choc full of chintzy floral home dec type fabrics, like the one above; they are in various colourways and there must be around 30 or so 2 foot squares of fabric.  I have yet to do anything with these, but Sarah's book has got me thinking about how I might use them.

Have I gushed enough to tempt to go for a look-see?!  This book makes me happy to look at and fills my head with pretty things whilst I do the more mundane things in life.

TTFN. Gal x

PS This is not a sponsored post, just me gushing about something I love.
