Sew Darn Hot

Sew Darn Hot

Crikey, it's been jolly hot here and us Brits are trying our best not to whinge about it, because last summer was such a wash out.  However, let me confirm that it has been officially too darn hot to do anything more energetic than sipping a G and T with ice and a slice.

My lovely garden is a joy to sit in and although the weeds are rampant and the veg patch a tad neglected, I feel lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world.  Everything is growing like billy-o and I actually rather like the unkempt wild look in parts of the garden.  Mother nature is showing us who's boss and the insects are having a ball.

My approach to gardening is haphazard; usually I sow lots of vegetable and flower seeds and lovingly nurture them until they get planted out in the garden.  At this point, I lose interest or get distracted and they are left to fend for themselves.  I often forget to water and pick anything that isn't outside the back door, oops!

I should point out that my current husband is a trouper when it comes to gardening.  He is at his happiest in the garden with his faithful hounds, chopping and hacking skilfully maintaining our boundaries and mowing the lawn.   If there were a pub in the garden with live coverage of the Ashes, then he would possibly never come into the house again!

I love the view from my kitchen window; reminds me that I must put some water in the bird bath and water the triffids tomato plants.  My advice to prevent yourself from wilting on these long hot sunny days, is to keep hydrated; cheers m'dears and pass the Pimms!

Ta ta for now from Saucy Towers.
