Sew, you win again!

Sew, you win again!

Andy Murray seems to have passed on his winning mojo to me, as I have won 4 little competitions in the space of a fortnight!

I am one of those people who never win anything, so I was gob smacked to get some cinema tickets in the post a couple of weeks ago.  Mumsnet have lots of competitions which are free to enter on-line.  This one was to share a tip on how you entertain your kids in the car.  I typed my brief answer with barely a thought and forgot about it.  Lo and behold, 4 Odeon cinema tickets popped through my door, hurrah!

Another Mumsnet win was through their Bloggers Network.  I entered one of my blog posts and won an e- course on generating creativity for bloggers.  The course is run by Dexterous Diva and I am finding it very useful.

Then I found out that I had won this adorable Little Dress Kit simply by adding a comment on the end of a competition blog post by 'sozowhatdoyouknow'.   I try to comment on a few blogs every day, partly because it helps signpost people back to my blog, but mostly because interacting with other bloggers is what the blogging community is all about.  I figure it's good karma to give feedback to other bloggers anyway, but doubly great if you win something.

As a new blogger, it is encouraging when followers give feedback on something they liked in your blog.  It's perfectly OK to be a silent visitor, of course, but why not try leaving the odd comment on the blogs you read and get a bit more involved?  It takes a little extra time, but once you are in the habit, it just takes a minute or two.  Share the love!

Finally, I was really excited to get this email:

We’re writing with some splendid news! The Jubilee ‘Commitea’ has declared that your Pimms O’Clock Cake is one of the five winning entries of the Jubilee Strawberry Cake Off.
Woohoo!  You remember my Pimms O'clock Cake from this Sunday Afternoon Tease post?  Well, I entered it into a Facebook competition run by Jubilee Strawberries and I am so pleased that I did.  Can't wait to receive my Delia's Cakes book.

So, I would encourage you to have a go at any competitions you see when you're catching up on your blog reading; they usually just ask for a comment to enter.

I'm not going to get rich, but it's a lovely little bonus to win anything really.  Perhaps I am on a winning lucky streak and should go buy a lottery ticket?!

Remember that you have to be 'in it to win it! GALx

  1. That cook book looks lovely! I've only been successful with one blog win so far, but I'm still using my winnings (yarn!) 6 months later so it was well worth it :)
